Year 1 visit Beamish Museum

Year 1 had a fantastic day out at Beamish Museum, where they stepped back in time to explore the 1950's. They visited the 1950's houses, carefully recreated to show what family life was like more than seventy years ago. The children spotted old-fashioned furniture and black and white televisions. They were curious to learn how people used to wash clothes using a mangle and many of the children liked the smell of the coal fires. A big highlight of the day was visiting the Beamish cinema. The children were fascinated to see what an old-fashioned picture house looked like and enjoyed watching a short black and white film. Well done Year 1 for being such brilliant historians for the day!
