Year 5 Bolognese

In Year 5, we have been learning how to prepare ingredients and develop our own recipes. As part of our learning, we have explored nutritional information and discussed how recipes can be adapted to remain balanced and healthy.

We have also been learning about where our food comes from, including farming and food miles. We investigated how far different ingredients travel before they reach our plates and considered the environmental impact of transporting food around the world. This helped us to understand the importance of making informed choices about the food we eat.

This week, we made a delicious Bolognese sauce. We carefully chopped onions, grated carrots, and combined a variety of ingredients to create our dish. The children demonstrated excellent food preparation skills and worked very safely and responsibly during the lesson.

Hopefully everyone enjoyed tasting their Bolognese at home and sharing their cooking with their families.
