Derwent Hill - Day 2

Derwent Hill - Day 2

What an action-packed second day we’ve had on residential! The children have enjoyed a fantastic range of outdoor activities, showing enthusiasm, determination and a willingness to try new experiences.

Throughout the day, groups took part in canoeing on Derwent Water, paddling across the lake and taking in the stunning scenery. Others experienced gorge walking in Honister Ghyll: swimming through natural rock pools, scrambling over boulders, and sliding down small waterfalls.

Children also tackled the rope challenge and Big Swing, testing their nerves as they climbed and soared through the air. On the low ropes obstacle course, they worked their way around a series of obstacles and challenges. During orienteering and map-reading activities, Year 6 pupils used maps to find checkpoints and explore the grounds around Derwent Hill Centre.

To round off a busy and exciting day, everyone enjoyed a movie night watching Wonder, which we have been reading in English lessons. It was a lovely way to relax together after a day full of adventure.

We are incredibly proud of the children’s positive attitude and the way they have embraced every opportunity. We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
