The children were given a wonderful opportunity to learn about the vital work of firefighters in our community.

The children were excited as they got the chance to sit inside the fire engine and explore all the different equipment that firefighters wear to keep them safe. 

The highlight of the afternoon was definitely getting to have a go with the powerful hose! Everyone was amazed by how strong the water was.

A huge thank you to Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue for taking the time to visit us. We all learned so much and had a fantastic time! It was a truly memorable experience for our children.

The children in Nursery and Reception opened the afternoon singing a selection of Christmas songs, accompanied by Mrs Jones on the guitar. We then joined our adults to create festive Christmas wreaths and reindeer headbands. We had lots of fun together. Look at the photos of our festive fun!

We learned found out about habitats and went pond dipping to look for pond creatures. Next, we created some transient mini-beast art using natural materials. After our packed lunch, we went mini-beast hunting in the woodland. We found wood lice, worms, millipedes and lots more interesting creatures. We were very careful to return all the mini-beasts to their natural habitats.

We had a great day together.

We all thoroughly enjoyed the show. There was lots of audience participation, and we enjoyed spotting all the different characters from the story, such as the fox, snake, owl, the Gruffalo and, of course….the big bad mouse!
We were so proud of the children who were superbly behaved.

Rev. Tom met us at the church and talked to us about why the Bible is a special book, and he read us some of the Christmas story. We looked around the church and talked about the different things we could see. We enjoyed listening to the church bells ring as we said goodbye and walked back to school.

We followed clues to look for lost toys and handled artefacts from the past. We investigated how toys have changed over time and made our own replica of an old toy called a thaumatrope.

Our Reception children took this new experience in their stride and demonstrated independence throughout. We are very proud of them all.

We walked down the hill and stopped to talk about how to cross the road safely. We noticed lots of places along the way such as the chemist, the gym, the hairdressers and the community centre.

We then found the postbox where we all took turns to post a letter into the slot. We are looking forward to them being delivered to our homes and our grown-ups getting to read them.
