Lost in the Toy Museum

Reception had a wonderful time on their recent visit to the Discovery Museum for a special workshop called “Lost in the Toy Museum.”
We started our adventure with a short journey on the bus, filled with excitement about what we were going to see and do. When we arrived, we enjoyed our tasty packed lunches beside the famous Turbinia, the world’s first steam turbine ship.
After lunch, it was time for our “Lost in the Toy Museum” workshop. We began by reading the story Lost in the Toy Museum, which got everyone ready to explore. Then we followed a hot and cold trail through the museum to find the toy exhibition. Using clever clues, we hunted for toys from the past, discovering how children used to play long ago.
We loved seeing and exploring all the old toys—there were bears, balls, figures, and lots of fascinating things to touch and look at. The children were amazed by how different toys used to be compared to the ones we have today!
To finish off our fun-filled day, we made our very own Bunty the Cat spinning toy to take home.
It was a fantastic trip full of learning, laughter, and play. Reception had a brilliant time discovering the past and can’t wait for their next adventure!
Big thanks to our volunteers who attended today.
