Making Egyptian Zines in Year 3!

Year 3 have been busy creating their very own Ancient Egyptian zines. A zine is a small, handmade booklet that people design themselves. It can include drawings, writing, facts and creative designs, all folded from a single piece of paper!
The children carefully followed step-by-step instructions to fold their paper into a booklet. It was quite tricky at times, and they had to be patient and precise with their folds, but they showed great perseverance and teamwork to get it right.
For inspiration, they explored art and symbols from Ancient Egypt. They included Egyptian-style patterns, symbols and drawings in their design. The children also thought about how papyrus was made in Ancient Egypt. Using their knowledge of layering and pressing strips together, they experimented with different colours and textures to recreate the look and feel of papyrus in their zines.
