Science Day

On Tuesday 10th March, we celebrated Science Day as part of British Science Week 2026. This year’s theme, “Curiosity: What’s Your Question?”, encourages people of all ages to embrace their natural curiosity, explore STEM subjects, and seek answers to questions about the world around them.
Throughout the day, our pupils took part in a range of engaging activities designed to spark their curiosity and develop their scientific thinking. Each class created a ‘Wonder Wall’, where children shared questions and ideas about the world around them, encouraging discussion, exploration, and enquiry.
Pupils also carried out hands-on investigations, giving them the opportunity to think like scientists by making predictions, observing results, and reflecting on their findings. Each year group explored a different question:
-
Nursery & Reception: Which pegs are best at keeping washing on the line?
-
Year 1: How do boats float?
-
Year 2: Does the way that foods look change the way they taste?
-
Year 3: How do birds build their nests?
-
Year 4: What makes the best handkerchief when you have a cold?
-
Year 5: How can you tell how old a shark is?
-
Year 6: Does toast always fall butter-side down?
Science Day was a fantastic opportunity for our children to explore, question and discover, while celebrating the importance of curiosity in learning.
