Marvellous Minibeasts @ The Rising Sun Country Park

Reception class visited the Rising Sun Country Park today as part of our learning about minibeasts and habitats. We started the visit with a pond dipping session where we identified blood worms, water leaches and other pond minibeasts. This was followed by an environmental art session where we made representations of these using natural materials we collected in the meadow. After tucking into our packed lunches, we spent the afternoon hunting for minibeasts in the quarry and classifying these by the number of legs they had. We finished off the day building bug hotels to safely return the minibeasts to their natural habitat. We had a really fun day and we are looking forward to learning more back at school.
