Year 6 have made a fantastic start to the new school year. The children have settled quickly into our routines and have approached their learning with enthusiasm, positivity and maturity. We are very proud of the excellent attitude they have shown during their first week back at school.

In Art, the children have been exploring macro photography. Using zoom and editing tools, they captured and transformed everyday objects into striking works of art. The children thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with different techniques and discovering details that are often missed by the naked eye. Take a look at Year 6's marvellous photographs!

In English, we have been reading Wonder by R. J. Palacio. The children recreated a scene from the novel in which August, the main character, attends school for the first time. Working in role as different characters from the story, the children created freeze frames and carefully used body language and facial expressions to show thoughts, feelings and relationships. This was a fantastic way to deepen our understanding of the characters and themes within the book.

In Science, Year 6 have been learning about the circulatory system. To bring our learning to life, we created a model circulatory system and the children moved around the room as oxygenated and deoxygenated blood, travelling through blood vessels around the body. This practical activity helped to develop a clear understanding of how blood transports oxygen and nutrients around the body.
