Year 3 Visit the Great North Museum
Year 3 had a fantastic day at the Great North Museum.
In the morning, they completed a range of activities in the Ancient Egyptian Gallery which included learning about the Book of the Dead, cracking codes in hieroglyphics, dressing up in costumes, building pyramids and more. They then explored all the artefacts in the gallery while completing a treasure hunt to look out for certain objects.
The children then moved into the Natural Northumbria Gallery and the Living Planet Gallery where the children found out about what kind of animals live in different climate zones. They spent time designing their own ‘Chimera’ which was suited to one particular climate (an animal made up of the body parts of different creatures).
After lunch, we had the opportunity to explore the rest of the museum. The children all had a great time and they represented our school brilliantly with super behaviour and manners. Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, we don’t have any photos!
